HOT FOAM HOPPER   -   Originator : Marc Griffiths    |   Size: 12

Short-horned hoppers are common around high country lakes and riverbeds in summer,
providing good dry fly fishing opportunities on Tussock lined waterways. They are commonly 2cm long and pale grey underneath.

The Hot Foam Hopper floats well, is easy to see and is very durable. Like a drowning natural it lands with a splat, sitting in the surface film with clean lines and legs that twitch and wriggle.

A South Island short-horned hopper, showing the pale grey undersurface fish are most familiar with.  The back legs are rotated through 180 degrees
so the darker upper surface is displayed.  The undersurface of the back legs is also pale grey.
